Printer assignment database module
The Printer Assignment Database module can be used to assign a direct printer to a PC name. The assignment data is stored across all workflows, see Direct printer.
In order for the assignment to a PC name to be made, IQ4docs must receive the hostname or IP address of the PC from which the print was sent, see Client hostname determination (direct printer assignment).
The assignment with this module does not take place if the direct printer has already been set (e.g. by the user's direct print setting or by an entry on the separator page), see also Direct Print.
The Print Control module must be included in the further course of the workflow.
Module dependencies
The module can occur several times in the workflow.
Useful predecessor modules
The placement of the module is not restricted. However, different effects result depending on at which points the module is used.
A good position would be directly after the Start module.
Useful successor modules
In order to be able to use the direct printers, the Print Control module must be included in the further course of the workflow.
It is recommended that the module should not be used after Send print job module and Print control module.
Settings
The module has no settings.
Executing Microservices
DeviceService
The DeviceService is responsible for the communication with the devices. It also generates page contents displayed on the device (visible interface of the Embedded Client). In addition, it carries out the licensing of the system and requires Internet access for online licensing. Its log file is Logs\DeviceService.log.
